Love this recipe! Just presented two pies to my office, one with milk chocolate chips (grahamcracker crust and one with semi sweet(oreo crust. Both were huge hits, I had to print and pass out the recipe to help convince people what they were made of. I have always stayed pretty true to the recipe but I really like some of the suggestions below (mint liquer, nut crusts, white chocolate etc.. I would live to try to incorporate some peanut butter, that might take things to a whole new level. I will keep you posted. One other thought, if you melt the chocolate chips in a microwave you can have this knocked out in under 5 min, pretty awesome!

Today is my father's birthday, and it has become a tradition of my own to make him a mouth-watering chocolate pie every year. When I mentioned it to one of my friends, he popped this baby up right away, and I'm so thankful that he did. :
I had a ditz moment and unintentionally omitted the vanilla. I also didn't have any coffee liqueur so had to improvise a little bit. I drained the tofu for about twenty minutes and once I had finished blending the chocolate and tofu and other ingredients to smooth, I folded in some additional whipped cream to try and make it more fluffy (which didn't help me very much in the long run, but it did lighten the brown color a little bit.
I noticed that some people mentioned that it was bitter, so I topped it with more whipped cream. I'm really glad that I did; without the whipped cream, the bitter taste would have easily overpowered any sweetness from the chocolate or the honey. It still felt like a war was being waged between bitter and sweet on my tastebuds, though.
Most importantly, though, my father's reaction to his first bite was extremely positive. He couldn't even taste the tofu (something he will not eat willingly in the pie (which is understandable, I mean.... I will definitely be making this pie for him from now on. This is most definitely a base recipe to remember. :

This pie is delicious and easy to make The first time I made it I used a home-made traditional pie crust that I had and didn't want to waste. I drained to tofu for just a few minutes before using it. I loved the way it turned out and couldn't wait to make it again. I made it again, this time I had a chocolate cookie crust on hand so I used it. It was good but I think the contrast of the Graham crust might be nicer. I also drained the tofu longer and noticed that the more you drain it the firmer the pie gets. Delicious but next time I'm not going to stick with the recipe and not drain the tofu at all then I want to try folding in some cool whip just to see how fluffy I can make this pie while still maintaining that yummy dark chocolate flavor. I'm also finally going to taste it with the Graham Cracker crust like the recipe originally called for!

Great stuff and not as bad for you as it could be! The kids did not like it as much as the wife and I did.

This was not what I expected at all! So creamy and rich!! We didn't have any coffee liquor, so I added a little bit of leftover coffee to it.....honestly couldn't taste it, so I think next time i'll add Kahlua to it when it's in the blender. But even without it, it was superb!!!

My husband and I love his show. And since my husband and I are trying to eat healthy by going "green," seafoods and less meat to almost no meat at all I decided to try this one. I was so surprised to how creamy the chocoloate mixture is! I used the ingredients available in the house - regular firm tofu ( which I love, 1/3 cup instant coffee w/ 1-2 tsps of sugar (since I dont have the liqueur and honey, store bought graham pie crust, vanilla and the 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate morsels. Followed exactly the instructions and viola!! For me, it was perfect you'll never even know that there's tofu. It tastes a little bit bitter from the chocolate (and maybe coffee which works for me.
Now I am wondering if I could use this for other desserts or snacks such as cupcakes, cakes, parfaits. Hmmm???

Saw this recipe on Altons tofu episode of Good Eats and since I have been trying to get good protein in our diet couldn't wait to try it.
RICH & DELICIOUS.
We used a homeade graham cracker crust instead of chocolate crust and left out the alcohol but this was divine! I took a large piece and could only eat a portion.
So easy to make too!
Try it!! You'll like it! :

Love it!. Great recipe. It's dense, rich and the perfect treat. I used Trader Joe' dark chocolate (2.5 cups and served it with fresh raspberry coulis and whipped cream. My kids didn't even know it was tofu. Next time I make it, I will whip 2 egg whites and fold it into the mixture before chilling. It will give it a lighter texture and even more protein.

Great Job Alton!! I made this for a family party - they never knew there was tofu in it! I'm making this for our school's nutrition class - since tofu is a "superfood" :-
Yay Alton!
