These are the best biscuits ever. They are light and flaky and easy to make. They were delicious with honey and butter. I couldn't believe it, because YES, the dough is very sticky! I just threw the sticky dough down on some flour, sprinkled more flour on top, rolled it out to about an inch and a half thick and used a glass instead of a cutter. They looked beautiful!

    Fab recipe! Thanks AB!!

Though I wasn't sure when I worked the dough that I had done them right (they were awfully sticky they came out wonderful. Nice and fluffy and a great flavor.

I made these this morning for breakfast, and although they were the best tasting I ever had, they failed to rise like every other attempt I have made at making biscuits. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for any help and thank you, Alton, for your wonderful tasting recipes!

The biscuits were fluffy and as great as basic biscuits can get.

I've tried a million different biscuit recipes and all I got were flat, hard, hockey pucks. I even tried the Paula Deen recipe that she makes along with chicken fried steak, same turnout. I do a lot of baking so I know i was using the correct tecnique. Now, finally a recipe that turned out great. I used a pastry blender instead of my hands, and I substituted buttermilk with one cup whole milk and a tablespoon of vinegar and I cut them into squares to eliminate scraps that have to be reshaped. Thanks Alton, I love your show.

As a woman who is proud of her southern heritage, I despaired when I realized that my Grandmother's biscuit recipe was no where to be found.

This recipe allowed me to reclaim the right to call myself one heck of a southern cook!
