Made this Gumbo for the first time yesterday. Have always been afraid of making it, so never tried. Saw the Neelys on Monday making it, and decided to try. My entire family loved it!!!!! It was DELICIOUS!!!!!! My husband being from the south (North Carolina just loved it. Couldn't get enough of it, and now wants to know when I'm gonna make it again. Will be a great addition to our "Sunday Football" menu. Thanks gain to Gina and Pat for sharing.......

I used this gumbo recipe and thought it was great. I did however add about an extra 1/2 pound of shrimp. I really enjoyed it.

This receipe was surprising to me, because it really did not have any flavor to it. I had to add salt, more tabasco and old bay seasoning. No, I will not be making it again, and my palate is not of a spicy nature at all, so I was very surprised how bland it was.

I'm from New Orleans...when you can eat gumbo with a fork, something's wrong.

My family loved this dish. However, I did put two pounds of shrimp instead of one and smoked sausage in place of the chicken. Man, oh man, was it great. Absolutely bursting with flavor. Even my 8 and 9 year old boys loved it. That says a lot.

My family truly enjoyed this recipe. I added small pieces of corn on the cob to this and it only enhanced the already great flavor! My boyfriend's family is from Louisiana and even he said it was one of the best he's had!!! I took that as a great compliment!
