The soup screamed for a few drops of sesame oil and slightly more starch. I think the white pepper is key to final taste. Black pepper just doesn't taste the same.

I love, love, love egg drop soup, so decided to try making my own after finding this super simple recipe.
The results? Less than stellar.
While it was one of the easiest things I've ever made, I felt like the chicken stock and soy sauce overpowered the other flavors, and it wasn't as thick as I'd like it.
All in all, a good effort and I'll probably make it again but use less soy sauce and maybe combine the chicken stock with water so the flavor isn't so strong.

This soup was EXCELLENT Even thoguh I added too much soy and used black rather than white paper. It tasted delisouse and will definitly be made again. I think next time I will add some chicken, peas, and corn to use as a meal rather than a side. It doesn't taste like chicken noodle soup at all and the flavor was delisouse. THANK YOU!

This is the first time I've ever attempted Egg Drop soup and it was very easy and delicious. The only thing that I changed was I added more ginger and thinly sliced it instead of grating it. I'll be making this often.

I tried this recipe after reading some of the comments. I did add lots of sliced ginger, and actually doubled the recipe. The results were heavenly. I felt so proud of myself, then remembered I did not create the recipe. I highly recommend it especially during these winter months. THANK YOU, Marcia in Ca

Great recipe, easy, and amazing flavor. This is my favorite kind of soup and I'm very picky in restaurants. This definitely met my standards. I agree with the reviews that suggest adding some coins of ginger root then simmering for a while. I also added bamboo shoots, baby corn, and tofu which was delicious. Next time I'll add spinach too. Next time I'll also reduce the amount of soy sauce. Depending on what kind of chicken stock you use, the soy sauce can make it a little too salty. But other than that, AMAZING!!!

You can't drive to a take-out place faster than you can make this soup--and my family likes it better.
