I made this recipe tonight and it was awesome. I followed the recipe to the letter except I used a food processor. The result was visually stunning and delicious. Next time I may try the potatoe masher, as I also like the chunky texture. Many thanks to all those who posted suggestions/observations. Us neophytes really appreciate the comments of the more experienced cooks/chefs.

Fantastic recipe! We were at the beach the second time we made this and did not have a hand beater. WELL! Mixing by hand is the way to go!!!!! The avocado and goat cheese is still in small lumps and so good this way. Not soupy, as we found it to be using the hand mixer. Also, making it a day ahead or a few hours ahead is recommended. Thank you for this delicious recipe!

This is a nice variation to normal guacamole. I have to try the suggestion below of adding cheese and baking!

Tried this instead of same old avocado dip- loved the fresh flavor that the goat cheese adds. Also, used other reviews using chives and cayenne. It was worth the try!

I just made this dip and it was great! I didn't even measure the lime juice, just used the juice of one lime. I also used 8oz of cream cheese. I saw the comments about it not being flavorful so I added some cayenne pepper and it is great, about 1/8tsp. I made mine in the food processor, it was easy just throwing it all in. I wasn't able to find goat cheese except the chunky kind for salads, worked great. I also added some fresh chives to mine. My husband and I loved it.

I actually went a little further on this one. I followed the recipe (I have made it several times now, and once used my hand mixer with pulse setting, the other with my food processor-food processor was just far more cleanup and the one thing that made it much better to me and a bunch of ladies with wine glasses was adding some shredded parmesan throughout and baking this in an oven safe dish at 350 for about 20 mins. You can even pop it under the broiler to brown the top for a while if you like. LOVED IT!

I love avacado & I love goat cheese, so this dip is outta this world! I eased up just a bit on the lime juice (used a little over 2 Tbs, and it was great!

Made this dip while preparing dinner tonight, and the first taste seemed a little too bland. Think it will be better after sitting overnight, and if it still needs a little 'boost', will then add some hot sauce and maybe a little more salt. Very easy to make in the food processor. I still prefer guacamole, but this goes together much faster! The real plus is that my husband liked it.

I found this to be a very easy and tasty change from the usual guacamole. It did not need any additional salt, beyond the 1/4 tsp. and the amount of cumin seemed just right.
However, I made this in my food processor, not the hand-held mixer that the recipe specified. No way can you get the nice smooth texture with a hand-held. Also, the instruction to "pulse" doesn't really fit with a mixer either. Ditto the ingredient "pita chips" - no, you're supposed to cut pita BREAD into 6 sections and toast in the oven. But do you split the pita first? I found the instructions confusing and amateurish, as though no one had edited them.

I made this for a party last week, it was a nice change from regular guacamole. I think the cumin may be a little strong, but I did enjoy the dip - especially with the pita chips!
