    From one italian to another, soprafinno! All the egg yolks made a divine and authentic gelato. If you've never made custard before, try the double boiler for cooking the gelato base (you are less likely to turn out scrambled eggs. But I did it exactly as the recipe said and it was perfetto! Molto bene!

    It all turned out well! Thanks for the great recipes!
    I have made the custard for vanilla ice creams by the gallon on the stove without a double boiler, so this was easy!
    The apple fritters were also a great hit.

    This gelato recipe did not work for me. I ended up with very expensive scrambled eggs. The suggested medium heat for the second cook time was too high. After having this problem I read several other recipes for gelato. All of the recipes used a double boiler with ?barely? simmering water.
