I was really excited about the recipe, but was not overwhelmed by how it turned out. I thought that the orange was overpowering - it was all I tasted, and missed the basalmic and maple flavors. To be frank, I missed the regular good old mashed potatoes.

These potatoes are absolutely heavenly! They are not only delicious, but gorgeous on the plate. The texture is a wonderful blend of smooth and airy. I did, however, find that they benefitted from a bit more maple syrup, a touch of cinnamon, and a bit more orange zest. The citrusy flavor imparted by the orange perfectly complements the natural sweetness of the potatoes, as well as the maple sweetness of the syrup. I served them on Thanksgiving and they were a hit with everyone! At first I worried that we would miss the savory, starchy goodness of the usual Thanksgiving mashed potatoes, but they soon became a distant memory after the first bite of these. I recommend these potatoes as a refreshing change from the usual mashed potatoes or candied yams.

Easy and delicious twist on sweet potatoes. Big hit at Thanksgiving dinner.
