This recipe is just wonderful! Just like my Grandfather would make. I confess I was in a pinch and used a rotisserie chicken from Costco the first time. Other wise, reserve it for Sunday dinner as it will take a while to prepare.

This was my first try at chicken and dumplings and I love it. It's fun to fix especially on a winter's day, and it's absolutely yummy!

I don't like dumplings, but these changed my mind, very good, we used chicken leg quarters.

This recipe is truly amazing. I've made it several times with only 2 additions, 1/4 white wine and tons of fresh thyme. I have a perfect picture of my two sons and husband tipping their bowls into their mouths to get the very last drop. There are never leftovers. Its truly worth the effort.

This was marvelous but very work intensive. I got raves from everyone who tried it including my husband who does not do this sort of thing. He gave it a 9.25 which says alot coming from him.

this was pretty yummy. when making the stock i would suggest not using quite as much water. the first time i made it, it was quite blah. it needed a lot of salt and pepper. but the second time i used only 3/4 of the water recommended and it made all the difference. very flavorful. i would suggest doubling the sauce with canned chicken stock if you want leftovers. but overall it was really good.

My family LOVES chicken & dumplings...being from the south they have been a family meal for generations. I was very happy the way the broth turned out. It was very rich and full of flavor. However, the dumplings were airy and tastless! I definately will create this recipe again but change the dumpling mixture. I short cut the recipe by poaching my chicken on the weekend, shredding the meat and storing the broth and meat in the fridge for a good midweek dinner! That way you have the chicken AND homemade broth to go. If you need it faster, pick up a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store and use canned broth.

Yes, the recipe is time consuming, but I was prepared and ready to make this dish. I could not believe I have finally found a chicken & dumpling recipe that is the best I have ever tasted. I will definitely prepare this dish many times in future.

I made my chicken by stewing it in broth rather than roasting it then followed the rest of the recipe. We live in high altitude and so I cut the baking powder to 2 teaspoons and used only 3/4 cup of buttermilk. I made these dumplings for my parents and we all agreed they were the best we have ever had...EVER.

    Thank you!
