OMG! ! ! ! This is the BEST turkey recipe I have ever found! I made this for the first time two years ago. I followed the recipe exactly. I had 20 people for dinner and everyone raved about how moist and tasty the turkey was. This is the only way I will make my turkey.

The recipe for the brine is all the way at the end of the directions. You do not boil the brine it is cold. This is the most moist and wonderful turky ever! I didn't follow the entire recipe however. I like to stuff my bird with stuffing (I know it's a no no but that's the way I like it. I used this for the first time last year and was terrified, I had never done it and had about 20 people coming for dinner. I have never gotten so many compliments on my turkey. The breast was so tender it literally lifted off the bone in one piece. I will never make my turkey any other way.

To snlederman's question below: yes, this is a little confusing at first. You just use regular chicken or turkey stock to baste the turkey. You make the turkey broth while your turkey is in the oven. This is reduced down to 4 cups per the recipe, and all 4 cups are used in the gravy - it's a large amount of gravy. Definitely use low-sodium stock to avoid over salting.
I've made this twice and it's great. My only issue is that the first time the skin wasn't as crispy as I would've liked. This year I'm going to let the bird dry out in the fridge for a few hours after brining - have seen a few other recipes that recommend the "drying" period to get crispy skin.

1 TIP: I soak my turkey in a 5gal bucket & put it in the garage covered because it's cold enough in my area to do that.
This was the ABSOLUTELY hands down THE BEST TURKEY I have ever made&ate. It is FABULOUS I can't say enough about how good it is by share what My in-laws said, they don't like white meat because they said it's always dry. They were so surprised & could not get over how MOIST&TASTY my turkey was! Now everyone wants the white meat & I have been put in charge of making the Turkey every year! I have used this recipe for the last 3yrs& I will never use another! Everyone that has had my turkey wants the recipe&raves about how good it is! Thank you for a great recipe :

I don't even like turkey, but whenever I make one, I use this brine and it is wonderful. I also use it for chicken, then do a beer butt chicken on the grill.
I just sent it to my daughters teacher so we can use it for the Thanksgiving Feast at school this year.

Of all the turkeys I have made over the years, this was most definitely the moistest, most flavorful turkey I have ever made and everyone at dinner was in agreement. We have a "Big Green Egg" smoker and have been cooking our turkeys on the smoker for the last number of years, but decided to try something different this year. I don't want to say that this turkey was necessarily better; the smoked turkey has a whole different texture and flavor to it. The smoked turkeys always turn out very moist and juicy, as well. That being said, if you have never tried this brining process, by all means do so! You won't be disappointed.
