This was so easy & so good. I changed the half & half to whole milk and added some chopped walnuts and a bit of cinnamon. GREAT way to start the day!!

I go with the measurements for the oats, water, and milk and then I add brown sugar, real vanilla extract, real maple syrup, and raisins. I give the interior of the crock a good coating of non-stick spray before I put anything in it - then no scraping off burned/congealed oatmeal the next day. My crockpot is pretty high powered so even the "low" setting is too high for all night, and it's not programmable. I always get up at least once anyway in the wee hours, so I just turn it to "keep warm" 2 - 3 hours before I'm going to be up for the day and it cooks just fine.

Being the only one in my home that will eat oatmeal, or try anything new, I halved the recipe and gave it a whirl using a mix of dried cranberries, blueberries, and cherries. Woke up early and excited to find after 7hrs on low, it had dried out alot and in some places started to burn. Stirred it up well and extracted a small bowl to try. The drier texture I came up with made it taste like cobbler. For breakfast. Half recipe. One person. No leftovers. Make it again tomorrow.

I loved it. My daughter, who generally does not like oatmeal, even liked it. I used some dehydrated fruit that comes from a local grocery store, already mixed together. It includes: cranberries, pineapple, raisins, golden raisins, papaya, strawberries, cherries and blueberries. That made it delicious! Also, I put it on warm overnight, increased to low for about an hour in the AM, and it was perfect! Thanks for the recipe! I'm looking forward to taking it to work every day this week.

For a little healthier version, I used 4 cups of rice milk (vanilla flavored and 1/2 cup water for the liquids. I also included the cranberries and used a 1/4 cup dried cherries for sweetness. No sugar required.

I liked this. Been looking for a way to enjoy oatmeal since it's so healthy and this finally did the trick. I have a 5-qt crockpot so I doubled the recpie and used skim milk for some of the water. I used dried cherries and added vanilla and 2 cinnamon sticks. This cooked in 4 hours on low so if I ever did it overnight, I'd set the crockpot on warm as some people suggested.

Best oatmeal ever! I used dried apples and apricots and frozen, unsweetened peaches...added vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, 1/2 stick butter, and a pinch of salt. I set the crockpot to cook on low for 8 hours and added more water and turned it back to low for about 45 minutes in the AM to adjust the consistency. Use a liner to avoid scorching on the bottom. I drizzled cream on top (very rich and it was to die for! This was special for Christmas so I would omit butter and switch to almond milk for everyday goodness. I will definitely make this again!

Excellent. We followed the recipe (omitting figs because we're not partial to them and woke up to amazing smells and taste! We've needed to thin the oatmeal out with additional milk and have been feasting on it for the past 2 mornings. A definite keeper.

Fabulous! I like it with blueberries better than figs, but yummy.
