These are delicious!!Never had them before but I hae always loved a good shortbread cookie and the dulce de leche goes so nicely with it.
When I made the dough I first refrigerated it for the 30 minutes as the recipe said but I found it too soft and sticky to work with. I refrigerated over night and had much better results although a few hours would probably be fine. As per some of the previous reviews I did notadd the spices to the dulce de leche. I will make these again!

This recipe is amazing! I'm Peruvian and this is how grandmom made it. Don't add the spices to the Dulce de Leche, and to get the authentic Latin American flavor, boil your condensed milk inside their cans in a big pot for two hours. You will get delicious Dulce de Leche.

These cookies are amazing. They taste straight out of a bakery in Argentina. I used martha stewart flower cookie cutters and they looked very pretty. They're a tiny bit labor intensive to cut out each cookie but totally worth it. SO good.

This recipe was wonderful!!!. Instead of a round shape I used a heart shape to celebrate our anniversary.
Also, the dulce de leche I used for my cookies came from Ingrid Hoffmann's recipe... Trufas Brigadeiro... OMG so delicious!!!

I grew in peru, and this is one of our most typical pastries, we have different ways of doing it but the girl that said that there was no clove or nutmeg involved was right, some of the best ones have a cornstarch combine with the flour that makes them really melt in your mouth, like this dessert we have dozens of unbeliavable delicious recipes that the world still not know about them.

Its simple, leave out the spices. I grew up eating this, and i cannot remember my mother adding these spices to them. My hubby, who typically doesn't like sweets, enjoys this cookie tremendously (without the dulce the leche. Speaking of which, if you cant find premade dulce de leche...just boil a can of condensed milk for 2 hours, then let cool. yum!

we call these cookies, alfajores de manteca (butter cookies in argentina.

you don't need to incorporate the spices in the recipe.
