I tried this shortly after it aired last year, and thought it was great...this entire meal was great. This steak was a great new way to cook steak. I don't really care for runny eggs, so I didn't put the egg on top.

Sorry, Rescue Chef but you disappointed me this time. The steak didn't taste like anything special. Who cares if you marinated the steak all afternoon in brown sugar, garlic and beer. It just tastes like a steak that has been grilled. Yes, I love a grilled steak, but I was expecting something along the lines of "great flavor" or "best *&% steak I've ever had in my life".
For me, it was eh....nothing else to say.

I tried this recipe a few nights ago after watching it on the show "Rescue Chef". It was very good. The beer made the meat so tender and gave the meat a nice flavor. I couldn't find muscodavo brown sugar so I just used regular brown sugar, which worked well. I was a little unsure about the egg, but it really topped this steak off nicely. The runny yoke really added to the flavor of the steak. Next time I'll put two eggs on my steak ... YUM!

My husband and I really enjoyed this recipe last night. We used Red Stripe b/c we didn't have anything darker and it was great. I don't usually buy T-bone steaks for fear that they will be tough, but this was so tender. The fried egg was a great way to do something different -- after all, it's going to be a loooong grilling season. Try it, it's great recipe.

Unlike the other reviewer, I liked the sweet marinade. I'm from the South and we tend to like our sauces this way. The marinade really broke down the tougher fibers in the meat, so the steak was incredibly tender. The addition of the fried egg was a great touch. I like the idea of being able to dip my steak in something other than steak sauce. And the mushroom and onion mixture...just so good! All in all, a really great dish!

We tried the marinade and thought it was way too sweet. The beer was good (Guiness but there was just too much sweet sugar taste. Maybe we are just used to a salty type marinade.

Very good and different. I didn't have onions so I used shallots which worked nice. Will definitely make this again.
