I made this recipe with 1 cup flour instead of 3/4 cup as stated in the recipe. This thickened the batter.I accidentally omitted 7oz of bittersweet chocolate.Surprisingly, most people said it perfectly sweet although a few said it was overly sweet.Baked at 350 degrees F for 14mins.Used a skewer to test readiness of cookies and found them to be very "gooey".Took them out hoping they would firm up while cooling but I believe the chocolate chips added at the end caused the extreme moistness. Most people agree this cookie tastes more like a fudgy brownie than a chocolate cookie.Overall, this is an excellent recipe.I will make again but would decrease size of cookies.

I love double/triple chocolate cookies and these are really good. My wife thinks these are the best cookies I've made (of this kind that is.

For the people who are having problems, are you adding the chopped pecans? That is a lot of pecans and after you add them the batter thickens up quite a bit. I took the advice of other posters and went with 1 cup of flour and the final dough was almost too thick...but the cookies still came out great anyway. I didn't need to cool the batter or anything. I made them just as big as the recipie suggested (only 6 cookies per tray--28 total cookies and they turned out great--crusty on the outside, gooey on the inside...perfect. I didn't have any problems removing them from the parchment paper either, and I even reused the parchment paper between batches.

Note: I only had whole pecans and I used a food processor to chop them and some of nuts came out fine (smaller than normal chopped nuts but not quite a powder. This may be why my dough came out thick as I believe it absorbed a lot of the liquid. Plus, as the melted chocolate cools, the batter/dough will thicken.

Bottom line, there is nothing wrong with this recipe--but the nuts are not optional as with most other recipies. I will use this again and again.

I tried all the comments first before I started. Added more flour let sit in the fridge then the freezer since they were so runny. They never did rise and were flat pancakes. I am going to put the rest of the batch in a dish and bake maybe they will be good cake cookies.

After reading the other reviews, I used one cup of flour and put the dough in the fridge before baking. I baked at 350 for 7 minutes turned the tray and baked for 7 more minutes and these came out ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. I made them for work because I am not a sweets person but these were so good that I ate 4 of them and they are rich! Just a little more flour was all they needed to be perfect.

Made these today for Valentines Day and they stuck to the parchment paper
so I tried using a little pam on the cookie sheet and that didn't work either :-(((
I should have read the reviews before I made them
Totally disappointed, I scraped them off the cookie sheets and froze what was there so I can make sundaes with them so at least I can do something with them

I agree that there s/d be more flour, and the dough s/b cooled before baking
    and use a smaller scoop

The recipe was easy (though I always make a mess with flour. My 7-year-old daughter helped me. We made a batch without nuts for her. They were so rich that I couldn't eat more than one ... and that's a GOOD problem to have. They were simply delicious! I *heart* the Neelys!

I made these cookies and they turned out perfect! I read all the comments and decided to add more flour and let the cookie dough firm-up in the fridge for a couple of hours but before I did this, the dough was runny. My friends and family love these cookies and I am baking them again this weekend. This is a recipe worth trying!
