Try using this recipe but add 3 large (diced potatoes when you add the carrots to the mix and one can of Green beans (diced. Its what I learned in my trip to Guatemala, its called Picado de carne con Verduras (translate: Meat and Vegetables Diced -Literally... Enjoy.

I watched the show and then looked up the recipe to find that it wasn?t the full recipe. The original recipe from the show had potatoes, cumin, and garlic powder. How come these things were left out? I think this might be the reason why people aren't happy with this dish.

The recipe is appropriate for the episode "Real Deal Fast Food". Keyword being "fast". I'm from San Antonio, Texas - the capitol of mexican food. This recipe is lacking from traditional picadillo. I know everyone has different tastes and Guy is just doing his show. Guy rocks! But if your interested in Picadillo don't forget to add cumin. I learned from my grandmother by watching her blend ingredients in a stone mortar and pestle (1lb beef, 2 cloves garlic, 1 tsp cumin seed, onion, tomato, salt. Some people add diced potatoes to complete the picadillo dish. It's a matter of taste and there are additional variations and ingredients.

I realize this is not Guy's recipe. I really believe Guy is one of the few good choices as F/N Star. I still remember the Gourmet Next Door fiasco. Picadillo is much more than this.
