I've never cooked much less touched a whole chicken but I thought I would give it a chance with this super easy recipe. I was so happy with it that I've been making different versions of it! Loved the flavor. Loved the prep time too!

We have made beer can chicken for years and it is the moistest chicken ever. Even in the oven, in a pan it it awesome. Please try different spices, experiment with soda (white soda, coke, cherry cola, etc. Top recipe in my book:

2 TABLESPOONS of salt?!? Did he mean 2 teaspoons of salt? I used the 2 TBL with much reluctance and unfortunately I was right to be concerned. The skin was inedible. It was waaaay too salty. The meat underneath was cooked perfectly and was still a bit too salty, but it was great. And this is the first recipe for beer can chicken that's worked for me. My chicken usually gets burned. But the indirect heat method and the time suggestions were spot on. Next time I'll try it without the salt.

This was unbelievably easy and the meat was so moist! It doesn't have much of a beer flavor. This is a great way to cook chicken just to have on hand for sandwiches or other uses without having to heat up the oven.

We have made this many times, especially during Packer games. Even though it can get quite cold this time of year, it's worth barbecuing this delicious chicken. Here's to the Packers winning the Super Bowl!! (Sorry Dallas

This was easy prep. I started the grill at the start of football game and by the time the second game was going to start it was done. I used Modelo beer and rubbed rosemary inside the chicken. The chicken was VERY juicy! It gave it great flavor! I recommend this recipe to anyone who does not like to be interrupted during football! Go Cowboys!

My husband said this was the juciest chicken he's ever had and my 6-year old asked if I would make it every night. I'd say those are rave reviews. Thank you to the reviewer who clarified that indirect heat should be used. I stuffed half a lemon in the neck.
The only problem I had was getting the chicken to stay upright -- it seemed to want to tip because of the grate. I finally placed the grill pan we use for vegetables under the foil pan and that stabilized it well.
