This was a very delicious pie! My omly complaint is that my filling was brownish gray. Perhaps my bananas were too ripe? I don't know but the filling and crust were delicious. Next time I make it I will slice the bananas and put on top when I am readyy to serve then put whipped cream on each individual slice. Can anyone tell me how to get a filling with a better color?

I thought this pie was delicious!! The first time I made it , it was good but it tasted a lil weird. I knew I must of done something wrong. I ate it up though it was still slammin! The second time I made it, it looked a bit different than the first, and it tasted even better, I set it out on the table and it was gone within mins. I made it for Thanksgiving and I realized where I went wrong the previous time ( was not taking time with butter at the end and boy oh boy... yummie!!! It came out so smooth and creamy I loved it!! what I learned was reallly take your time at the end adding the butter and mixing it in, it really really makes a difference.

Some of you need a life. This pie was terrific! To those whose pie did not set up,i had the same problem with Altons Lemon Merangue pie, all I had to do was bring the lemon filling back up to bubbling so it would set, no need to run someone off their show or critize their abilities to come across on T.V. I like the idea of calling in and asking questions on cooking.

I thought this pie was delicious! I cheated a little and used a store bought crust but the filling was so good! I needed to add a little extra corn starch (not more than a tsp or so to help it thicken but the end result was heaven in your mouth. My family loved it.

This was the worst pie that i made so far. The taste was weird and disgusting . The cream was ughh bad . They should really change up the recipe and put some flavor or atlest SUGAR , because no kid would want to eat a pie like this . Even my family didn't like it . Was it me or the pie ? I think it was the pie .

This pie crust was the best I've ever made--I like that you incorporate the butter and shortening by hand. I don't have a food processor and I usually use a pastry blender, but I think breaking up the fats by hand kept me from messing with the dough too much. The result was a flakey and delicious crust. I also thought the color of the custard was a little dark (the pie didn't look like a traditional banana cream in that sense but it tasted very good. My custard thickened after about 9 minutes of stirring. I let it cool "slightly," as the recipe says, and it turned out fine--the banana layer between the custard and the cold cream on top kept that from being a problem.

In terms of her recipe, it is appealing.

In terms of her show,,,, it has to go off the air. I have to agree with Kathy and Anonymous comments.

I made a few modifications- heavy whipping cream instead of whole milk in the filling, sliced the bananas super thin instead of 1/2", put vanilla, a little bit of almond and powdered sugar in the whipped cream, and added a bit of nutmeg to the filling and on top at the end. The pie had great consistency- i think taking the time with cooking the filling and letting it chill before putting it into the crust is v. important. Maybe the whipping cream is better- the pie didn't slop onto the plates at all. My guests were very pleased- not a word was said during desert until every plate was cleaned!
