This is a wonderful rice dish. It may not be traditional but it is good alternative. The recipe is not very clear but I was able to recreate. I even halfed the recipe. I assumed the 4 cups of stock was intended for the 2 cups of rice. I added 1/2 cup stock to sausage and veggie mixture. I used 2 cups stock to 1 cup rice. Wnen the rice was done I let it stand for about 15 mins before mixing it with the sausage mixture. The results were excellent. I will definitely make again. It is fast and simple. Go Neely's...Keep it commin'!!!! Thanks!

I too was confused with the amount of broth used. When I originally put in the 4 cups broth and 2 cups rice it was too moist. so, I added additional 2 cups rice to thicken it up. I also let simmer for 15 additional minutes to absorb the last of the remaining liquid. From reading the other posts I am getting that the rice was to be made in the broth. I think i will keep it the way I did it, seemed to work. I would have liked a little more kick so will add a bit more cayenne next time.

This turned out pretty good. As the others have said about the stock issues I just figured it was a typo. It was pretty tasty even if it wasn't the traditional way to make it. There was nothing really special about it though; it was just a side item. The meal they prepared in this episode over compensated for this item so you don't notice it as much but I still think it was good; but nobody is going to ask you for the recipe if you serve your guests.

the episode it TOTALLY different than what the recipe says. you have to cook 2 cups of rice in 4 cups of chicken broth (bring to boil then let simmer for 15-20 minutes. you also need an additional cup of chicken broth for the pot with the sausage and vegetables. Neelys you need to rewrite this recipe! after all that, i'd say this is a mediocre jambalaya. NOT A DIRTY RICE. where i come from, dirty rice has ground meat and the trinity in it.

I FIRST MADE IT LIKE THE RECIPE AND IT TURNED OUT SOUPY. WAY TO MUCH STOCK FOR COOKED RICE. I'M GOING TO TRY IT WITH UNCOOKED RICE INSTEAD.

My husband has made this dish a few times now, and we've tried it with turkey sausage and beef. It was great everytime! I also like it with brown rice! Great job, Pat and Gina!

I made this dish with turkey sausage and it was excellent. During the show the rice was made with the chicken stock but the recipe doesn't call that out very clearly.

I agree with the other comments. The chicken stock had to be used like that. I wanted to see more of a kick, so I added some Texas Pete hot sauce (about 2 tablespoons. Also, I added some finely chopped (small cubed carrots and it gave it great color and texture. AND you're slipping another vegetable in it which is always healthy! All in all, a great, easy and fulfilling dish.

I made this because my husband is a rice lover and likes a kick to his food. Well, this did it for him. I used turkey sausage and alittle extra cayanne and it was simply delicious. I made it three times in one month and we just can't seem to get enough.

This recipe was very good & easy. And yes the cayenne gave it a "kick". However........the recipe calls for 4 cups of chicken stock. I think that maybe you were suppose to take 2 cups of the stock & cook the rice in it. Because 4 cups of stock would have been to much to add afterwards along with 2 cups of cooked rice. So what I did was add 1 cup of stock & the 2 cups of cooked rice. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes, then I added another cup of cooked rice and 1/2 cup of stock. Then cooked again for about 2-3 minutes and it was perfect. I added an extra cup of cooked rice, b/c I had cooked boil in the bag rice and didnt want to waste any rice. ;-
