Big hit at an October tailgate! I actually goofed and used 4 quarts of apple cider without doubling the rest of the recipe, still delicious, obviously a less alcoholic version but I had steeped the cider with the studded apple and orange so I think that helped the flavor.

I'd never made apple cider before but tried this recipe a bit before Thanksgiving on a cold night for a bit of a comfort sip. It was absolutely delicious! All of the ingredients noticeably contributed to the resulting overall flavor and the simplicity of the recipe earned its way into my recipe collection. Definitely a keeper!

Made this for a party last night and it was wonderful. Used fresh apple cider from a local grower which is not overly sweet. Used whole allspice and dark brown sugar. Otherwise, followed recipe. Simmered 30 min then added rum. Will definitely make again!

My husband and I made this around Christmas time, and it is the perfect drink for a cold winter night. It was quick and very easy to make. I highly recommend trying this recipe.

I made this the day after Christmas when everyone went shopping. I thought the hot apple cider would put the icing on a cold and hectic day. The cider was delicious and I would not change one thing in the recipe.

Just tried this out for the first time and I agree with one of the previous comments that said to cut back on the brown sugar...also, I'd cut back on the rum slightly as well. Other than that it was wonderfully delicious!! A great drink to enjoy around the holidays!!

I made this for a bridal shower, but decided not to add the alcohol. It was really good like this (everyone loved it, but I would omit some of the brown sugar as it was a little too sweet. I will definitely make this again!

I cooked my apple a little too long and it kind of exploded in the pot, and the cloves needed to be filtered out. It still was excellent though!

I added cinnamon sticks and orange slices to mine, as well as 2 spiced cider tea packets. The all spice and cloves from the apples left bits of "stuff" in the cider. So it needed to be filtered out before serving. Pretty good, but next time I'll put the apples with cloves in a cheese cloth.

It was only ok, we had a good bit left that we threw out from Thanksgiving.

This cider is excellent. High-quality fresh apple juice is the best base for this.
