i love this, if you stir it a little longer then you should and use two extra large eggs plus extra half cup a flower these make great everyday cookies

These cookies taste really great however the brain shape is difficult to achieve. When I tried to shape them, they lost the "tubish" shape from the ricer.

I made these cookies with my 8 year old son and his friend...we all had lots of fun making them, and the color does resemble brains BUT they aren't the best tasting cookie, and the frosting was left tasting not too good. I didn't use nearly the amount of food coloring called for either. We all had fun making them, but ended up throwing them away because not even the kids would eat them.

I used ground almonds in mine and they turned out great. they were slightly cakelike and not crispy (just how I like my cookies. But they are a bit time consuming and messy - using a potato ricer isn't particularly fun but it does produce great results.

What do you do at Christmastime with a bunch of video playing teenagers? You have to engage them in something fun and slightly weird. The dough does indeed turn out gray and when squished through the ricer does resemble 'brains'. The boys especially had a ton of fun. And the cookies taste great too--at least the teenagers loved them!

Cookies tasted pretty good, looked a lot like brains. Did anyone else bend their ricer from the thickness of the dough?

This is the first year that I made these brain cookies and they were a smash hit!!! I started out making them for my daughters students and ended up making not only a batch for her but for my neighbors, fellow employees at work and halloween is over and my daughter asked me to make another batch for them! My son-in-law who isn't much of a sweets eater also wanted me to make another batch - he loved them - so if that has to rate at least a 5 star! one of my neighbors who does volunteer work at children's hospital here took the ones I gave her to children's hospital to share with the kids! Isn't that great!
