I'm reviewing the waffle ony, which I wanted to use with a different chili recipe. I expected this to be more like cornbread-in-a-waffle. It isn't. In fact, one hardly tastes the cornmeal at all The waffles are far too neutral and diminish the chili instead of enhance it. The texture isn't right for this combination either -- too crisp and dry. Since I'm not rating the chili, I'd give 2.5 stars if I could.

The waffles do need a little flavor. I added a bit of chili powder. The chili......very bad. Never would dream of putting beans or tomatos in chili. So I used my recipe. Great concept I just ran with it with my own chili and a spicier waffle.

When I noticed reviews that said the Chili made the Waffle too mushy, I made the waffle and toppled it with eggs benedict. It was excellent...much better than an English Muffin for the base.

The cornmeal waffles didn't have any corn taste whatsoever. I made my own chili recipe so I can't comment on that, but the waffles ended up just being a weird addition because they didn't contribute any flavor to the dish. Instead they just made it really heavy by soaking up all the chili liquid. I think next time we'll repeat this concept with a cornbread muffin mix that is stronger in flavor.

This is a great chili recipe. I made both the waffles and the chili for fall fest at church and won the chili cook off! First time I had ever tried to make this recipe. It was easy to prepare and reminded my husband of taco soup because of the corn. We have never put corn in chili, but it was quite tasty! I did put in one can of kidney beans for one of the ranch, just because I did not have 2 cans of ranch style beans.

Very good chili. my kids loved the idea of eatting it off Cornbread waffles, was way to much fun. you can play around with this dish, adding more heat or even jalapenos, to the cornbread mix befor cooking. wich my husband loves!

We had this dish last night and loved it. We have a large family of nine and everyone thought it was cool to eat our chili off of a waffle. We will definately be making this again, not only for ourselves but would make a wonderful dish for when company is coming.

I love this recipe! I follow it exactly except leave out the green peppers because my husband doesn't care for them. I love the combination of the waffles with the chili...something I never would have thought would go good together. Very filling and delicious!

This recipe was very good. I only loosely based my chili around this recipe because my boyfriend and I like it a bit spicier. The waffles were great too! They needed a bit more sugar than the recipe call for, but this was a great combo! What an awesome idea!
