Very beautiful and tasty! Basil really comes through. I make these every year for my ladies brunch I host and always get compliments! Followed the recipe exactly but, obviously, I did not use one onion, rather one tablespoon grated onion. Don't make them too far in advance, after bout two hours, they bread starts to get a little soggy.

I made these for my book club, and they were a huge hit. Something so simple and well-presented can make such a great impression. They are so easy to make and very light and refreshing. Try them!

I'm watching it right now and in the 1 cup mayo she puts salt, pepper, accent (don't know what that is and she doesn't explain and only 1tb of the grated onion. She also only uses the parsley for garnish on top of the sandwich (held in place with a dab of the mayo. And the tomatoes aren't drained between layers of paper towels, she simply lays them on top of paper towels and sprinkles with salt so the sandwiches aren't mushy when she assembles them.

I'm sure the REAL recipe is amazing but anyone following this one online will be very disappointed, thats why I gave this online recipe one star.

There are often such discrepencies between the t.v. show and the posted recipes. Such an issue! (Whew, wanted to say that for years. Paula sprikled in some of the seasoning salt (I think she said it was "Accent" into the mayo mixture. I would think that and the onion would be what would set the sandwich apart from a typical tomato and basil sandwich. And if not seeing the t.v. show first, I'm sure many sandwiches were ruined with an entire grated onion in the mix. Neither did Paula say anything about putting parsley or basil in the sandwiches, but just a sprig on top of the sandwiches with a blot of mayo for garnish.

I gave this one star but haven't actually tried it. Surely you don't use one whole grated onion for one cup of mayo???

I think these look delicious and everything, but on her show, Paula only grates a little bit of onion, but the recipe calls for one whole onion grated. Which one is correct? Please help me!

I used little pumpernickel slices that you usually see with the crackers. I made it for a bridal shower so they were open-faced. It was a hit. Everyone loved it with a tiny roma tomato on top with the good oniony-mayo. Really superb!
