Based on previous reviews, we used half the sugar the recipe calls for and also steeped the mint leaves.

I steeped the mint leaves with the tea bags as others have suggested and got a really minty flavor. My husband said it was like drinking toothpaste, but I liked it. I agree with others who've said the tea was too sweet. However, it balances out when you add a bunch of ice into your glass: I really liked that it left my mouth feeling refreshed and minty. Yum. Next time I would add less sugar.

I muddled the mint leaves in the water before I brought the water to a boil. This truly brought out the mint flavor. Other reviewers said that it didn't have enough mint flavor. It was delicious. I finally have a good ice tea recipe!!!

I agree with an earlier reviewer who suggested adding one mint tea bag in with the others and letting them steep together. The mint does not overpower the tea, but gives it a little extra zip. I always make my tea without sugar (and I live in the South. Then guests can add it or not.

This recipe is very similar to my grandmother's recipe, but I agree, not enough mint, and I like a little more lemon, too. To get that extra hint of mint you're looking for, add a mint tea bag (Bigelow makes a good one to the tea bags called for in the recipe and steep with the regular tea. To add a little more lemon (just a bit more so as not to make it like a tea flavored lemonade stir in 1/4 cup frozen lemonade at the end. I also agree with other reviewers who thought that half as much sugar is plenty. Or better yet -- try Splenda. Tastes great without all the guilt!

I love sweet tea and this was great! But you have two options for the minty flavor, mull the mint in the tea (once its brewed, like if your making a mojito or you can boil the mint leaves and make mint tea next combine it with the ice tea and sugar or simple sugar.

I cannot believe how refreshing this tea, very easy to make as you do not have to cook a simple syrup.

I threw a BBQ last week for the summer, and everyone loved this mint iced tea. To try making this recipe easier, I used Lipton's Cold Brew Iced Tea. To infuse the sugar into the tea, I boiled a bit of the tea with sugar and mixed it in with the other liquid after it settled. After that, I just added mint leaves and lemon slices, and it worked marvelously! I added only 1/2 the sugar in the recipe since the mint and lemon already had so much flavor.

This recipe just didn't work for me at all. First time I made it, I followed the directions exactly and ended up with something so sweet, it could barely be drank. I ended up dumping it and coming up with something of my own. The recipe was great for inspiration though.
