My boyfriend and I decided to try this recipe---both of us had never made pot pie before. We are glad we did because this pot pie was easy to make and very tasty! We were a bit concerned about the curry--and thought that it might be too overwhelming a flavor, so we opted to only use half the recommendation in the recipe. In retrospect that was a mistake--the pot pie was good, but could've used the entire amount of curry powder recommended. A great recipe!!

The man 'doth know of what he speaks'. Alton has a real winner here in this recipe.

I used to abhore the lowly pot-pie, especially in its tasteless store bought variety. This has made a believer out of not only myself, but, my entire family. Teenagers loved it and husband gave it a 'very good' rating as opposed to his usual ratings of 'it's okay'. [My husband is an avid AB fan and the science lessons are given high 'cuddos' from the kids.]

I did add extra milk [about 1 1/2 cups] to the mix and additional veggies I had on hand. By adding red bell pepper, mushrooms and diced potatoes, it gave it even more volume and the red peppers gave it the beautiful color for presentation. All of these were sauteed along with the celery and onions. I also brushed on some beaten egg to the pastry to give it that beautiful golden, shiny look.

The curry is a wonderful addition and just the right amount to give a whisper of a hint but not enough to overwhelm the dish.

Keep up the great work Alton and all at FN.

All right, it's official I'm a food geek. I'm actually writing a review. I love this recipe. As the weather gets colder in the north country we look for something to warm us both body and soul. Just think about the name, Chicken Pot Pie ... feel warmer don't you.
    Give it a try!

Believe me I have tried several pot pie recipes over the years only to throw the whole thing away and eat cereal for dinner. This recipe ROCKS!
PS I am not a big curry fan so I left it out.

I made this after the show aired for me and my kids and I will say they ate every vegetable in it. Thanks a million, finally I found a quick and tasty meal that my children liked very much they ate the plate clean.

I've made some adjustments to the recipe each time I made it thus far, but even following it as is, you will still get to eat a yummy pot pie!

My main thing has been to up the liquid content - once you cook 2 cups down a little to thicken it, it is barely enough to cover 4 cups veggies plus 2 cups chicken. Add at least another cup of liquids (stock/milk to make this go further. Also, if you don't have puff pastry (or don't like working with it, a can of store-bough crescent roll dough worked well for me on top.

It's a great idea. I doubled the chicken and used 3 teaspoons of curry powder. I also decreased the peas and made a thicker crust for the top and bottom. Done up in a casserole dish it makes a hunky looking pot pie. My husband loves it.

The only chicken pot pies (before this one I've ever had were pre-made and frozen, bought from a store, or at a restaurant. This one is the best I've ever tasted! I love the curry idea! I don't know if it's a unique thing to do to chicken pot pie, but the recipe certainly was very good! We used a rotisserie chicken (store-bought, though, that may have been too seasoned and so the pie came out a little salty, but I'm sure that can be fixed!
