Seriously. You "could" blanche them...or not. A little dark sesame oil and some sesame seeds (just use white; don't knock yourself out to find black unless you have a Chinatown or Chinese grocery where you live. It's just for decoration. No brainer.

    I love this recipe!
As a previous reviewer said, blanching gives better color. I, then, toss with the sesame (not soy oil and sesame seeds. I have not used black sesame seeds but find that toasted white sesame seeds work very well. Great recipe for the abundance of snap peas harvested from the garden!

I love the simplicity and elegance of this recipe. However, the result has a very strong soy flavor. Only make this for those that enjoy soy very much. The dark soy oil has such a strong flavor, it can overwhelm the taste buds.

I blanched the snow peas because they look brighter that way. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly. The black sesame seeds were hard to find, but I got them at Whole Foods in the ethnic section rather than the jarred spice section, where the other sesame seeds are.
Everyone likes this recipe, even non-vegetable lovers like kids.

Very basic--but diners should like crisp vegetables because these ARE crisp. Black sesame seeds are hard to find.
