Awesome salad. Very light and healthy too if you go easy on the dressing. I halved the dressing and it was still a lot, just something to think about.

I have made this salad quite often and everyone always loves it. I made it for my company picnic one year and now it is requested every year. Sometimes I am unable to find Bibb Lettuce and have substituted Green or Red Leaf lettuce and it is still delicious. I bring it to many picnics and summer events. Great Recipe!!!!!!

I entertain a large group of family and friends every Sunday and if I don't serve this salad, everyone asks "how come you didn't serve the Orange Walnut Salad?"
I always buy extra greens and double the dressing to use during the week.
It keeps fine in the fridge. I use shallots as well for a milder version of the dressing.
For the garlic lovers out there, you can mince a clove or two in the dressing or in a pinch, garlic powder. I often use dried onion in the dressing which gives it a nice taste as well.
This recipe is a hit every time.

I amended the dressing somewhat by using olive oil instead of vegetable oil & red wine vinegar instead of vinegar. Also, added about 1/4 cup Cabernet Sauvignon wine to the dressing. I also used shallots instead of onion. A slightly milder taste but very similiar to regular onion. The greens were what I had on hand; baby spinach & an arugula mixed greens with fresh herbs. A keeper for sure!!!

This salad was yummy. I double the dressing and use it for our everyday salad too. My daughters and husband loved it.

A classic salad with a much improved dressing. In past recipies, the sweet and sour dressing has been sickingly sweet. This recipie is perfect. I did heat the dressing in a sauce pan until the sugar was complety dissolved-dressing never boiled but did get quite hot. Then I refrigerated until chilled...Delish!! A big hit with my friends as part of a Monday night football BBQ.
