I used only half of the rum in the recipe and it was still way too strong! I was embarrassed by the comments party-goers were making around the dessert buffet.

The taste of the rum was a little overwhelming, and there wasn't enough sweetness to balance it out. When you make it, be sure to sweeten the Mascarpone mixture to your taste, because that's the only sweetness there will be. Go light on the rum if you use the soft lady fingers. They soak it up too fast! My remedy: Served it over chocolate pound cake slices with drizzle of chocolate syrup. delicious!

I think it is a very good recipe, however I was not sure how to use the coffee. When I make an expresso coffee for one coffe cup, I use one mesure of coffee, but now that I needed 1and half cup, I used 4 coffee spoons, so I don't know how it is going to taste, and the lady fingers, it is a bit tricky, thank god I read the notes and saw that one reviewer said she did not keep them in the coffee mixture too much, so hopefully it will taste good, I will review when we eat it this saturday, Chantal from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, I love watching the contessa,

This was good but our guests commented on the strong rum taste. I think next time I'll try less rum and more coffee for the dipping mixture. Also, I found a difference when using a hand mixer and my Kitchen Aid mixer for the filling- it was much lighter (and better with the KItchen Aid.
