This was such a great recipe. although it said it made 12 strawberrys but for us it made more like 20 strawberrys. But the strawberrys were so good!
Thank you Ina for the recipe!

All of Ina's recipes are fabulous including this very simple to make chocolate covered strawberries. I found Guittard chocolate chips in my market. The Guittard chips come in semi-sweet, milk chocolate and white chocolate. Look for the Guittard chocolate chips to make an already fabulous recipe more fabulous!!!!!

I have loved every single recipe I have made from Ida's cookbooks and tv shows. My friends at work and I give quite a few dinner parties and we talk about what we are going to make or did prepare and it's almost always from Barefoot Contessa. So when I decided to make chocolate dipped strawberries this afternoon I didn't think to read the reviews to look for helpful hints, etc. How hard could this be?? I started with a high quality white chocolate--that separated--then moved on to semisweet as the recipe called for. With just 3 T heavy cream it was way too thick. I added more cream, and that may have been my problem. The chocolate won't harden and when I pick the strawberry up the chocolate slips off. I think this is way too simple for me!!

I made this as a surprise for my husband the other night, who has a chocolate sweet tooth. I imagine part of the trick of this recipe is the quality of the chocolate. I used Ghiradrdelli, which I think has it all over Bakers or other more commonly known brands. I couldn't find the long stemmed strawberries the recipe recommended, but I found that if I was careful in dipping, the little green sprouts of the berry were long enough and strong enough to hold. I did not use the heavy cream, but rather a lighter cream and it didn't seem to matter as far as texture. I didn't have parchment paper, but did have the non-stick Reynolds wrap. Since I wasn't entertaining, that didn't matter so much and it worked just fine.
