This is the most delicious roast chicken I have EVER made. I love the departure from typical lemon chicken by subbing out oranges. I took the advice of another reviewer by zesting the orange and using the zest in the herb butter to give the whole chicken a juicy depth of flavors. I have also put the chicken on a rack and then put yukon gold potatoes (as these absorb the flavor best in the pan to catch the drippings; the whole dinner is a real show stopper.

As with all Tyler's recipes I rate this one excellent too ! Amazing flavors came through. After it was cooked I browned the roast under the broiler for around 5 minutes so it was no longer pale.
Excellent! Thank you Tyler !

You can't go wrong with bacon. Flavor is so rich, which is what chicken needs. It's hard to stop eating this. The gravy that the juices make is phenomenal when you add a touch of sherry.

Can't wait to try this recipe. I just tried his French Onion and it was delicious. Love that there is a wine suggestion.

Wow, fantastic recipe. I can get bored with chicken but this was really moist, succulent and tasty. And super easy.
I followed the recipe other than the cooking time and temp. I cooked it at 20 mins per pd and 20mins over at 350'F. Which meant the bacon took about 45 mins to cook through and render down but that was fine. I crumbled it over the chicken afterwards. Yum..
Really delicious recipe. I love the deep flavours in Tylers food.

This my new favorite!! I add carrots, potatoes and onions in the roasting pan the last hour or so. I also have used a good red wine instead, need to make more sauce with this, it is so good! Tyler, you never let me down!! Thanks!!

My new favourite roast chicken recipe! I used dried herbs instead of fresh and as someone suggested, grated the zest from the orange into the butter mixture which really amplified the flavour.

I tried this with dried herbs instead of fresh ones and it still turned out delicious! I loved the tangy touch of citrus the orange added to the dish. I will definitely make this again.
