I have been making this recipe for years. I have taught my daughters to do this, I use an electric kettle and always double the recipe. I took it to a church lunch once and am asked about it every time we have a "bring your food" event. The first time I brought it I felt terrible, because the veggie heads in our group heard about it and were also snacking happily. After that, I began bringing two pans, one made with veggie broth rather than chicken. It is certainy better not to have guilt while you are still at church, and this recipe is so inexpensive I can afford to be generous. Needless to say, my kids 1,3, 8, 11 LOVE it. I always need a doulbe recipe, and people eat it cold right out of the fridge the next day. You can't mess it up with mix ins of any kind - meats, herbs, veggies. Just be carefull who you cook it for, because they will be asking for more.

This is the best side dish it goes with almost everything and is soooo easy to prepare. I have been making this for a couple of years and probably make it at least twice a month. Its great for family or guest. The recipe is so versatile I have made it adding, fresh chives, tarragon, basil or parsley right at the end before serving. I also add peas a lot of times and extra Parmesan or Romano cheese. Yumm.

This is absolutely fantastic. It is rich and still light. I served it with chicken cutlets over greens with a mustard-tarragon vinaigrette and strawberries. Such a great side dish for year-round.

Very nice recipe. Savory and delicious, and not at all hard to make either. Added caraway seed, which was kind of a mistake, but still did not ruin dish. Thanks Rachael for the recipe! :D

This dish is so good...but it needs to be prepared and served immediately, otherwise the starch sets and you are left with one big lump. That happened to mine, but I added a little more chicken stock and put it back on low heat for just a minute. Will still definitely make it again :

This has the potential to be really good.... if you add actual seasoning to it. I didn't have a problem w/ the cook time, the 15 minutes was perfect for the orzo to soak up the liquid w/o getting overcooked. I just thought it needed more flavor.

I made this last night; it was very good. It is very easy and fast to prepare. I uped the amount of parmesan cheese to just under a cup. I will definitley make it again.
