I do not like Texas toast and had some old, stale cinnamon coated cake donuts that I was going to throw out but decided to use for this recipe instead. I had 8 donuts and I baked it for a little over 1 hr instead as well. Oh god it was so good. I am eating a bowl right now. I have never made bread pudding before but I will again. Even my picky 8 yr old and 4 yr old love this recipe.

I've seen bread pudding enough on "Chopped" I wanted to try a simple, basic recipe. This one didn't disappoint. Since it was a trial, I cut everything by 1/3 and baked it for 30 min. Would still have been enough for 2-3 people, depending on how much dessert they wanted. Didn't have any Texas Toast on hand, but I figured two slices of regular bread for each 1 slice of Texas Toast would work. Just on a whim, I subbed half the sugar with brown sugar, uncompressed. The recipe never mentioned when to add to the cinnamon as garnish, so I did it before baking. The whole thing was just plain yummy and easy to make. When I have a sweet tooth, I'll definitely go back to this.

So I decided to make bread pudding out of guilt. I had all these frozen hamburger buns and I couldn't bring myself to throw them out.... it seems so wasteful. I used this recipe and of course tweaked it a bit... I used a combination of brown and regular sugar. 15 rolls made up a 13x9 pan. Added a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg and some rehydrated raisins soaked in Kahlua yum!! I let it cook a bit too long but all in all came out pretty good and tasty considering it was my first attempt. Although, I WOULDN'T suggest trying it out on the first day of your Paleo Diet LOl

I used Butternut autumn wheat to make this bread pudding. It is awesome with this recipe.

A real winner. I've never made bread pudding and there are 100's of recipes for it. I used this one and tweaked it. I substituted Target's Archer Farm brand of apple fritter bread and used the whole loaf. I took another reviewer's advise and used 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar. I didn't have any whole milk, so I used 2 cups of fat free and 1 cup of light cream. Everyone raved about it and wanted the recipe.

This is ridiculously good. People who don't like bread pudding eat this. I have adjusted the recipe to use 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of white and a long french bread baguette.

I also use Paula Deen's butter rum sauce:

    Butter Rum Sauce:
    1 stick butter
    1 pound box confectioners' sugar
    Rum, to taste
Melt butter and slowly stir in confectioners' sugar. Add rum and heat until bubbly. Pour over each serving

    Used:
6 Martin's hot dog potato roll buns sliced
1/4 cup melted butter(based on other reviews
3/4 cup sugar(based on other reviews
    3 eggs
2 cups skim milk (reduced based on amount of bread using
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tbls vanilla extract
baked for 50 minutes for extra goldeness
let sit for the 15 minutes like recipes states

I was nervous about using the potato rolls but it still turned out terrific! I also made a homemade icing to drizzle on top but I didn't even need it.

I have been looking for a bread pudding recipe like this forever because my fiance hates raisins! This is a great basic recipe but like others I made some modifications. I only used 1 cup of sugar and 5Tbl. of melted butter and it turned out perfect!

Oh boy! I wish I had read some of the reviewers' comments before making this recipe. The amounts of sugar and butter involved are criminal - that's why it was truly "uncommonly good"!!! And it smelled incredible too. When I make this again, I am definitely cutting down on those two bad, delicious ingredients...

I made this today with some left over croissants and it turned out great. I took the advice of some of the other reviews and added about a tablespoon of cinnamon. I also only added a cup of sugar. It really is a great base recipe that you can add whatever you fancy to.
