I experimented with different cheese like herb chevre, stilton, blue etc. Really adds a nice bite and pairs well with grilled beef and a cabernet or red zinfandel.

Tried Tyler's ultimate potato grain over the weekend..was a nice touch with the cabbage. I did speed up the process by cooking the cut potatos just a few minutes in the microwave..(I was running out of time..The flavors were fantastic..I will definitely be making this again!

Personally, I'm biased. Anything with potatoes, bacon, cheese & heavy cream is perfect in my book! But in all seriousness this is the perfect side dish, and I will make it again and again!

We make this gratin every year for St. Patrick's day, it is so delicious! Worth the effort of slicing all those potatoes.

I made this recipe to accompany a beef roast and it came out fantastic. I added sharp chedder to the parmesan and used regular bacon instead of the slab bacon. I also used half and half which was what I had on hand at the time. I didn't even have to make another vegetable since the cabbage was already in the gratin. This is definitely a keeper!

Even though this takes some time to make, it's excellent and is well worth the effort.

A very simple recipe, but with outstanding flavor. The cabbage and potatoes are a classic combination, and the savoy cabbage layer works great without making the gratin sloppy or wet.

I'll add that my wife is a vegetarian, and I was able to substitute that bacon flavor by using a little liquid smoke. It worked to perfection.

This is another great recipe from Tyler!
