This is excellent. I had never made bread pudding before. I love chocolate and thought you couldn't go wrong. It is so delicious. It is very rich, but you could eat the sauce with a spoon.

This is a fantastic recipe as written however, as a Southern gent, I have made a few add-ons and adjustments. 1. Instead of the milk and heavy cream, I replaced with 3 1/3 cups eggnog. 2.Instead of 2 Tsp. almond extract, I replaced with 2+ Tsp Creme De Cacao. 3. I addition to the Cinnamon called for by the recipe, I also add 1/2 Tsp. Nutmeg, 1/2 Tsp. Ground Cloves, & 1/2 Tsp. Ginger. These are my add-ons for the Bread Pudding Portion. Also being from the south, I noticed the absence of Bourbon Sauce or any Sauce with this recipe. I have 2 different sauces to make and both very easy. Option #1 is Peppermint Sauce (creates mint choc. yum 1 stick butter (1/4 cup 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 cup Peppermint Schnapps Slowly melt butter in Sauce Pan, Whisk in Schnapps, then Egg, and Finally Sugar. Heat to just short of a boil and remove from all heat. Use 1-2 Table spoons of sauce to serving. Option #2 is Chocolate Sauce (for choc. addicts only 1 stick butter (1/4 cup 1 cup sugar 1 egg 1/2 cup Creme De Cacao Same as above instructions. Paula as usual has another winning recipe! Chris

The best ever! I used stale home made dinner rolls, DARK chocolate and 1&2 & 1/2 instead of milk. Yes - it was RICH! I also melted some DARK choclate chips - added a little cream and vanilla and served warm on the side with the whipped cream on the side.
    Thanks Paula!

This was my first attempt at any sort of bread pudding and I was very pleased. I was afraid it would not turn out well because I've read many reviews which said the recipe works better with stale bread. But I used a regular baguette and it turned out beautifully. I also used chocolate chips instead of grated chocolate which was much less work and turned out nicely. The only thing I may do differently next time is put just a little less coffee flavored liquor (I used Kahlua. It added a nice flavor but was a little too much for me.

I am not a fan of bead pudding, at all, until now. Made this for my husband and it was incredible! Chocolately, smooth, and rich. It was a hit at Thankdgiving. So easy to make. You have got to try this. It makes several servings-great for a huge crowd. Add a little vanilla ice cream and you're good to go. You won'r belive how yummy this is!

I'm not sure if the bread pudding didn't cook right because of something I did but it came out as a soupy mess. I left the bread pudding in the oven for an hour and a half and it still wasn't done. I turned the heat up and it ended up being burnt on top and still gooey in the middle. Also, the almond extract is a little strong. I do a lot of baking and I think if I managed to make a chocolate souffle, I could pull of bread pudding. Not sure what went wrong but I won't be making it again to find out.

I don't even like bread pudding, but my husband loves it, so I tried this one because I DO like chocolate. EVERYONE was begging for 2nd & 3rd servings & asking for the recipe. It's wonderful & very rich! Very easy to prepare, also. It's definately a "keeper" recipe!

In the show Paula used equal parts almond and vanilla (2 T. I agree with those that said use more vanilla than almond and a little less cinnamon. This was the best bread pudding I've ever had. You have to try it!

So easy to make. I also only used 1/2 tsp of almond and didn't put in many chocolate chips. Everyone loved this dish! Will be making again. Thanks Paula.
