Very disappointing, was a total flop with the family. Hopefully I can salvage the leftover with some garlic and half & half. It definitely needs help :(

Like others I made this recipe because of the artichokes. The effort was not worth the outcome. I did not read the reviews before making it. If I had, I would not had made the recipe since the "improvements" are so mixed. I added tuna with tomatoes to the leftovers to salvage my efforts and make a healthy lunch.

The ingredients for this pesto are appropriate but I believe serious cooks would take the time to toast the nuts, use fresh lemon juice & adding a bit of basil & garlic for enhanced flavor. I've also found a better pesto is produced if the parmesan cheese is added after completing the food processor step.

This was kinda bland the first time I made it too. So I added a couple cloves of roasted garlic which added a nice sweet/smoky texture that didn't overwhelm the rest of the ingredients. I also use pine nuts in the recipe and roasted pine nuts as a crunchy topping. It helps if you keep the lemon juice minimal, use fresh, and a bit of extra salt or salty parmesan makes the flavors pop better. My daughter loves it and has no idea it is filled with artichoke hearts. Yummy!

Since most of the reviews said that it was bland tasting, I decided to add about 2 tsp. of lemon juice, about a bunch of fresh basil (a good handful and 4 cloves of garlic to the recipe. I took out the walnuts and salt/pepper...I left everything else the same. It was very tasty.

I love artichokes and so I thought I would love this recipe but it was just alright. It was kind of bland...so I might add chicken next time to kick it up a notch.

I, like the single other reviewer was so excited when I saw sandra making this pesto, cause I love artichokes. I tweaked the recipe before i even started by adding double the olive oil and adding 1/2 cup parmesan cheese. It still was very bland-maybe needs garlic and some parsley or basil. I will play with the recipe cause i love artichokes.
