This recipe is amazing! Best one I've found so far. So many people have asked for the recipe (hence my trip here to share the link today! and it is often requested to be my addition to potlucks. Sometimes we add a little more pepper jack cheese and take out a little of the cheddar just to give it a little more kick but the recipe really is PERFECT just the way it is written!

This mac and cheese is to die for. I've made it several times and every time there are no leftovers and I've had several people say it's the best they've had. And it's really easy to make it gluten free. Just use gluten free pasta and flour for the rue mixture and skip out on the panko. I usually put more well cooked bacon to give it an extra crunch since I don't use the panko.
Definitely use pepper jack cheese, it gives the dish the extra kick it needs without it being too spicy. I reduced the amount of cream by half and cut it with some milk and the dish still came out creamy and delicious.

I am usually not a fan of mac and cheese, but this recipe was FANTASTIC! I wouldn't stop eating it if it weren't for the calories lol I added more bacon and instead of putting it on top, I mixed it with everything else so it added more smokey of a flavor after baking. I also LOVE pepper jack cheese so I added more of it and it was great! I will try just using half of the cream and half milk instead for next time to see if it still turns out, but I don't see why not! Also, I kind of cheated for the first step... I didn't have time to let it roast in the oven so I just cooked the shallot and garlic with the bacon and then added it into the mix! It turned out great and it was one less step! It is a must-try recipe, and it can easily be changed to suit your own tastes!

This was amazing. My 14 year old son loved it. I used Pepedew Cheddar cheese and two other cheddar cheeses that I had in the fridge. It was so creamy and delish. I will make this one again.

I made this for a large gathering last night along with a more traditional mac and cheese. Both disappeared. That makes a statement all by itself. It's easy to make as long as you plan ahead.

Just made this today for Labor Day, this is the best mac and cheese I have ever made. So Thankful my coworker found this recipe for me (Thanks Rad. I doubled the garlic, shallots and panko bread crumbs, I used mild cheddar and pepper jack cheese and used about 5 pieces of bacon Delicious. As far as the salt I dont remember exactly how much I used but it was way more than the recipe called for Im sure. When seasoning the cheese sauce with salt it tasted a little salty at first but after it was all cooked it came out perfect not too salty and not bland at all. I must say it was a bit greasy but next time I will use less bacon fat. Overall this is a great recipe and will be used as a staple recipe by me going forward. Thanks Guy your awesome!!

This is one of my favorite Mac and Cheese recipes. The only difference I make to it, is to use RITZ crackers crushed up instead of Panko. My Grandmother used RITZ, so I felt I had to keep that tradition, and it works great! It adds extra crunch and extra butteriness!

I've been using this recipe since i've seen it on Guy's show. It is amazing and everyone else agrees! Everyone in my family, all of my friends, ask me to make "my" mac and cheese for any special occasion. I do up the cheese, garlic and bacon... but who wanted want extra of the three! Love it! You will too!!!

Best mac and cheese recipe! It is simple and tastes creamy with a nice crunch from the topping. I make this whenever I am having friends over...it is great for adults and kids. I always add more bread crumbs and bacon on top since that is the best part!

The recipe worked great. I did use about 7 strips of bacon and later felt it could have taken more without "hurting: the recipe. I also added broccoli to it was well. I am going to make it again for sure and am going to try to see how it does using regular milk instead of heavy cream. It is so worth the time!
