I only made the cake, which is quite tasty, but the strawberry flavor is much more subtle than I expected or hoped for, particularly considering how many strawberries went into the recipe. The cake is very moist--probably due to the strawberries--and developed a nice crust on the outside. I had just made a strawberry jam (Ina's with strawberries, blueberries, and apples that was delicious with the cake and store-bought ice cream. The final dessert was great, but I did expect more strawberry flavor from the cake itself. Also, next time I think I'll use walnuts instead of macadamia nuts--I think the texture would work better. I'm also looking forward to trying other reviewers' suggestions of adding lemon zest for a little zing.

was looking for recipes to help make a dent in our giant COSTCO box of strawberries, and thought this would be a good project for my 13-year old daughter. we were not making the other components of the dessert, and i thought this looked like more of a quick-bread, so made it in a loaf pan. she added some walnuts we had on handi instead of macadamia (random, and it came out beautifully. great for breakfast or with coffee anytime. will likely use this for neighbor and teacher gifts too, as they are probably tired of our usual: banana bread...

THE 'BREAD' BAKED IN A CAKE PAN WAS MOIST AND FLUFFY, BUT THE TASTE OF STRAWBERRIES , ALTHOUGH THERE IN A SUBTLE WAY, WAS NOT PREVALENT. HAVING SAID THAT, THE RECIPE ALSO CALLED FOR A BERRY COMPOTE AND HOMEMADE VANILLA ICE CREAM - SO, I CAN IMAGINE THAT WOULD WORK BEAUTIFULLY WITH THE BREAD/CAKE AND TAKE IT OVER THE TOP.
I DID SERVE IT WITH ICE CREAM AND LIKED IT A LOT.

.I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING I WOULD ALSO ENJOY WITH A CUP OF COFFE OR TEA IN THE MORNING, BECAUSE IT IS NOT TOO SWEET.

I tried just the bread for breakfast and I dusted it with powdered sugar. It was good, but I didn't taste any of the strawberries.

I wanted to make a classic strawberry pie, but was a little short on berries. So, I thought I'd give this a try since I like Emeril's tastes.

Like Chanda, I also added a little lemon zest to the batter to make it a Lemon-Strawberry bread. Also, I used butter instead of vegetable oil. I threw in a packet of strawberry n cream oatmeal I had laying around to make it a little denser and add some texture. Then, I used a loaf pan, instead, to make it more like zucchini bread. Just topped with rolled oats and baked it at 350 for 30 mins, and 325 for another 30 mins. Dabbed it with butter before the last 10-15 mins.

I wish I had the macadamia nuts - I'm sure they'd make all the difference. But I was happy alone with lemon/strawberry combo. The fruit compote is definitely worth trying. Just adds some extra moisture and juice to the dessert. I'd make this again!

I knew when I tasted the batter that this was going to be good. I bumped up the cinnamon to 1 full tsp and added lemon zest, I omitted the ice cream and did my own version of a straberry compote and topped it w/ homemade whipped cream. I felt like this was a classical version on Belgium waffels, you could serve this as a side for breakfast too, so tasty...don't skip on doing a compote it's so much better with a sauce.
