I love a good French dip sandwich! This produced a very good version. It was super fast to make and went together so easily. I used Boar's Head roast beef to cut back on the salt and the Montreal Steak Seasoning was a great addition. I can't deal with the almost raw deli roast beef, so I did add mine to the au jus to cook for a while. The au jus was delicious and was perfect for dipping. I even used the sherry, and I usually skip the cooking wines in recipes. I'm glad I didn't because it really gave this recipe it's unique and authentic flavor. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it often as a pound and a half of deli roast beef cost me almost $15!

This is totally a favourite at our house. It has been called "the fastest dinner ever", I can't believe how quickly it comes together.

I skip the steak spice in favour of straight black pepper.

    Yummy!

Thanks for the heads up! I skipped the steak seasoning to avoid the over saltiness, and its wonderful!

My family loves these sandwiches! They're a little pricey, as deli beef around here is $8.00 a pound, but we have them every once in a while for an easy cooking night for me and a treat for all of us.
