I had this at my mom's house over Christmas and it sounded just ok. But, when I tasted it, I couldn't believe how much flavor it packed. My goodness ... it was just wonderful!!! What a great stew!

This was by far the most disappointing Paula Deen recipe I have ever made. The ketchup and barbeque sauce was overwhelming. Even the smell made it difficult to even want to taste. I tried adding a LOT of the chicken broth but nothing helped. I might as well have mixed up some chicken in a bowl of ketchup! EWW!

This is an excellent recipe. Make sure you add a few diced potatoes, green beans, and baby limas. I didn't do the liquid smoke, my bbq sauce had it. Good job Paula

I served this to a group of girlfriends last night, and they couldn't stop talking about it. I left out the sugar, used a roasted chicken I bought at the store, omitted the liquid smoke, and added 2 tsp. of BBQ seasoning. Then, I threw it in the crock-pot on high for about 2 hours. It was delicious!

I have just moved to the south and I have never had Brunswick stew. I made this last night. Very good indeed! I agree with everyone who said it was too sweet. I had mine with brown rice, while my boyfriend had his with pasta. Believe it or not, the pasta worked well with this stew. It really cut the sweetness.
I plan on making this again, but cutting the sugar and possibly using less ketchup. I may add more corn or some other veggie. I'm from Indiana and I can never get enough corn.
This stew is perfect for a chilly night.

When my husband saw the recipe was Paula's, the first thing he asked was, "Where's the butter??!" The hardest part of this dish is deboning the chicken and that isn't hard, it's just messy. This reheats great and freezes nicely! Thank You Paula!
