It really was not all that bad but all I tasted was the barbecue sauce. It was not a stew it was a hurry up sloppy joe. Thanks but no thanks.

I read all the reviews and made adjustments accordingly, e.g. leaving out the sugar since many people said it was too sweet, adding lima beans, etc. But the stew was still too sweet and overall just lacked depth of flavor, even the next day. I'm a fairly accomplished cook who loves to make soups and stews, and I'm always on the lookout for good quick recipes that taste like they took all day to make. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them. I like Paula Deen and occasionally watch her show, but this is only the second recipe of hers I've tried, and like the first, am baffled by the glowing reviews. Will keep looking for a Brunswick Stew recipe I like. This one was worth a try and certainly not inedible, but I won't make it again.

It is absolutely delicious. I had nevere made any Brunswick Stew recipes and this one is so very easy. I have really enjoyed it and definitely plan on making it quite often.

This recipe was okay. My family wasn't that impressed. It tasted like you poured a bottle of Hickery smoked BBQ sauce over chicken and rice.

This was very good, of course. My husband and thought it had tons of flavor. I served it over rice and it was very filling. It serves a lot of people.

My husband and I adore this recipe. I make it at least once a month, but I do leave out the 1/3 cup sugar. I also add in any leftover Eastern North Carolina style barbeque I may have on hand.

I made this recipe last night & thought it was delicious! (So did my family I added some mixed veggies & cut back a little on the ketchup & barbecue sauce (about half of what was recommended. Everything else I followed exactly. Thank you Paula for a great recipe.

It makes a mediocre BBQ sauce, but a soup? No, not really.

I made this with turkey breast meat. I cooked a turkey breast in an oven bag and made stock from the turkey juice.

Also, I used a box of frozen corn, a box of frozen lima beans and 4 diced new potatos instead of the creamed corn.

I also didn't add any sugar.

The results were a lower fat lower sugar version of the original recipe which still tastes great!

The recepie was great. It was even better the next day. The other thing is that it was easy to fix. Prep Time is minimal and most of the prep is done while wating for the chicken to boil.
