I am still in the midst of baking these brownies, I just wanted to know if anyone else's batter ended up getting SUPER thick before pouring into the pan?
    I hope they turn out.

These brownies are amazing. I read some of the reviews before making, I made them with all semi-sweet chocolate chips (instead of part bitter chocolate. They were great. They absolutely NEED to be refrigerated as they have SO much butter in them--they firm up nicely in the fridge but are hard to serve w/o being chilled first. Don't skip this step. Also, rapping the pan mid way through baking really does work.

I've made this recipe several times now, and always get rave reviews. It is awesome as is. However, my co-workers love when I make spicy brownies: This recipe + 1/2 tsp chipotle chile powder stirred into the batter; bake as directed. Sift together 1/2 TBS cinnamon + 1/2 TBS cocoa powder + 1/8 tsp chipotle chile powder and dust top of brownies.

I can't keep up with the requests for these. When I retired to my condo at beach February there are not a lot of people in our complex, so I thought it would be a good idea to make these and take to the Fire and Police Departments, just let them know I am here and keep an eye out in here. Have you seen grown men cry? I make for my best friend when she comes and indiviually wrap them so she can freeze and have when she wants. These are worth the time and money of good ingredients to make these. THE BEST OF THE BEST.

I have never made home made brownies before, but after making this recipe, I will never make boxed brownies again! These brownies just explode with flavors and are fabulous. I halved the recipe and it made plenty!

These are, without a doubt, the best brownies I have ever made. I have made them to bring to functions, and have always been asked for the recipe. I follow the recipe to the letter, and it is not difficult to make, and always comes out perfect. I have made it both ways, with and without nuts, and both are spectacular!

Wow, these brownies were great! It makes a huge batch! They are very rich, but not sweet--I didn't have enought chocolate chips so substituted with butterschothc chips and used espresso grind coffee instead of instant! This recipe is a keeper!

I'll say up front...I made a pretty major addition to this recipe. But I think even without it these basic brownies would be fantastic. Definitely don't need the HUGE serving size Ina recommends. My sheet pan of brownies made about 48 servings. So my big change. As if they aren't decadent enough...I made a quick carmel sauce and about halfway through the baking process I drizzled it all over the top of the brownies then continued baking. It was SO freaking good!!!! Family LOVED them!
