These hoecakes are fluffy & moist. My husband, who doesn't care for cornbread, kept coming back and coming back for more hoecakes. In fact, he had the leftovers (which was very few for breakfast the next morning.

I really could eat these babies every day. I cooked 15 of them and they were gone in less than one hour (four family members devoured them. I just can't stop watching and trying Paula's recipes.

We were recently to Savannah, GA and had the pleasure of dining at the Lady and Sons restaurant. We tried the hoecakes in person so this gave us a firsthand taste test. When we arrived home from our vacation, we found the recipe here online and decided to try our hand at making hoecakes. They are fail proof and taste exactly like the hoecakes made for us that day in Savannah. They're different, but they're very good. Try it. You too might be pleasantly surprised!

I have tried for years to fry cornbread like my grandmother did. This recipe has taken me as close as I have ever been to recreating her "skillet cornbread." Thank you Paula.

I'm confused about whether to use 2 C. of cornmeal mix or 1 C. of cornmeal mix and 1 C. of flour. I thought Paula said on the show to use cornmeal MIX because the flour is already mixed in. Can someone tell me?
