I thought it tasted very good.
However I tried the "lollipop" look and it didn't work out so I poured it on non-stick aluminium foil and made 1 giant lollipop. That worked out great. I also kept the butter and added 1 more cup of sugar. (For a double batch.

Look, these took the same amount of time as regular lollipops and I don't feel they were any easier. The finished product did not taste good at all. I don't know if it was the butter giving it that extra twang or not but this did not do it for me. Sandra Lee, come on!

This recipe was easy to make. The lollipops turned out great and were a hit with my girls and their friends. I did use the 6 oz. jell-o, instead of the 3 oz. for extra flavor and I was able to make about 24 lollipops. You do have to pour quickly, so be ready. Clean-up was a cinch. The suckers were ready to eat about 10 minutes after they were poured. Basically, I have no complaints!

I'm happy to do this recipe since I have 3 young children, and love getting new ideas to do for my children and to take to school. I love Sandra Lee show her recipes are easy to do even for a busy mom.

The value of this recipe lies in the fun, creativity and anticipation experienced by kids as they learn in the kitchen. This is priceless. However, the coarse uneven texture that develops on the surface of the sucker as it is licked down is a result of using gelatin as a flavoring agent instead of flavorings and flavoring oils used in traditional candy making. Making this substitution is actually easier than using gelatin and the taste and texture are greatly improved. Sandra still deserves kudos for her efforts to encourage parents to have fun in the kitchen with their children.
