I made this chicken stew for my family and it was pretty good. With a few minor changes, I was able to make it great.

I used a chicken cut into 8 pieces in order to feed an entire family. I also doubled the quantity of canned tomatoes, using a 28 ounce can. I added water instead of chicken broth.

When I served it, it was lacking in a bit of flavor, so by adding 1/2 cup fresh basil just before serving, as well as the original basil added at the beginning of the cooking process, it was great! It added the fresh basil flavor that the recipe was looking for.

I would make this recipe again and again.

Very good, but lacking something; maybe a touch of tabasco. I think I'd cook the carrots and kidney beans longer, too. I didn't care for the crunchy texture. Overall, though, this was very tasty.

I deleted the celery for my son and added garlic for me and had AAA positive feedback from everybody. I goofed getting monster sized breasts and had to rely on post boning cooking and adding broth to get the meat done. Boneless breasts would quicken the recipe considerably. It was so different and well received that I decided I'll fix it for my brother, a Sanoma County food/wine snob, who will be visiting us next month. If you use fresh basil add it at the last rather than early in the recipe too.

I have made this stew several times and it is always a hit. I have used several different cuts of chicken and they all work out. The only suggestion I have is to make sure you use a high quality canned tomato, like san marzano, so the broth is super tasty. Another winner from Giada!!!!

I tried this on a whim and it turned out to be one of the best Recipes I have ever done. I have tried many other Recipes and none of them have turned out this good.

Once the aroma filled the kitchen, I knew this would be good. My entire family loved it and I have made it several times since, even freezing and taking on a ski trip. Hearty, comfort food of the best kind. I added more carrots, celery and some extra broth and I also used cannelli beans(white kidney beans. All you need is good bread and a nice bottle of red!

this was just as good as it looked on tv. it was super easy and everyone loved it. i would recommend adding fresh garlic and maybe even a 1/2 to a full cup more of chicken broth. it was great with warm crusty bread.
