Ina, Thank You for providing a beautiful and delicious cookie to our annual Christmas cookie tradition. Immediately after trying one from my first batch, my wife and daughter and I all said this cookie recipe is a keeper. The texture,of the cookie is perfect, and the toasted coconut provides a wonderful smell and added flavor. I have tried many thumb print recipes, and none of them made you say "Wow " after taking a bite. This cookie is perfect and you want to eat more after having one. Happy Holidays Ina. You are the best.

One of the best cookies I've ever eaten (I'm an expert, trust me. I've altered the recipe various ways with nuts, powdered sugar, lemon curd, etc. It is delicious any way you bake it and it couldn't be easier to prepare or handle. I love Ina and this recipe is a masterpiece.

The coconut gives it a great taste! I used a black, seedless raspberry jam and it tasted really good!

I followed this recipe and had no problems. I agree... the dough is pretty crumbly but if you chill it for 15 minutes or not chill it at all and you should be fine. I also took the advice from a previous post and dipped half of the cookie in coconut. Such a great recipe and I look forward to making these this year for my Christmas cookie tins that I give away as presents every year.

Absolutely delicious! I didn't have any flaked coconut, but I'm looking forward to trying it the next time.

These are fantastic, but what's really cool is that you can double this batter and instead of rolling it in coconut and making thumbprints, use half to make the best butter cookies ever and frost them! I've tried dozens of sugar and butter cookie recipes to frost for the holidays, but this is by far my husband's favorite.
