I'm not a fan of spicy so I switched out the red onion for vidalia onions and I didn't add the cayenne. I also added a lot more golden raisins and regular raisins. Could have done without the chickpeas.
This recipe with the raisins and vidalia onions made it sweet but I like it that way instead of spicy, it was sooooo good! The whole house smelt like awesome spices and my family ate the whole thing... no leftovers!!

While it smelled pretty good while making it, we were quite disappointed in the outcome. The texture, in particular was slimy and sticky. Will not be making this one again. Also, nothing like the other Moroccan stews I've made (successfully in the past.

I printed this recipe out five years ago and just found it. Looking for something easy to make, so I decided to give it a try. Changed it slightly, left the skin on the thighs, seasoned with salt and pepper and then broiled them to brown instead of frying. I didn't have red onions so I used yellow. My tomato puree had salt in it, so I omitted the salt in the recipe and seasoned to taste at the end. Accidentally added twice as much cayenne, but since my family likes spicy, it was great. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly, and then served it over couscous. My family absolutely loved it and is begging me to make it again soon. Don't know what the bad reviews are about. I have had authentic Moroccan cuisine before, and this is an easy, delicious version that unfussy eaters will love.

you have no idea how disappointed i am
i could go on how truly bad this recipe is
but to sum it up
this is not moroccan cuisine or gourmet or edible
oh yes i can cook reaaly good stuff

I love this recipe for chicken stew. I have made this at least five times in the last few months. It's easy, tastes great and freezes really well! My entire family will eat this meal and we love it. Your house will smell great and people will really enjoy it!

wow, this was really good. we served it with raita, cooked mixed greens, and orzo although I that it would be really good with quinola or couscous.
