This tastes nothing like the tikka masala I've had in restaurants. It is sour and the only thing I can taste is the ginger. I baked it and it even looked nothing like the picture, it was pink instead of red. It probably needs tomatoe sauce, not paste, and more spices. I'll never use this recipe again.

In my opinion, tikka masala is Indian Buffalo Wings. As we all know Buffalo Wings are chicken wings in a sauce of melted butter and Franks Hot Sauce. Tikka Masala is chicken chunks (usually breast...sorry, supreme in a sauce of ghee (clarified butter and red curry. The butter is what makes it so yummy, so why would anyone use vegetable oil? I mean, if you're trying to be a little healthier, at least use a butter substitute. But thats's just my opinion. BTW for all those vegans out there, this dish with tempeh instead of chicken and a vegan butter substitute instead of vegetable oil is awesome.

This does not taste like many of the variants of Tikka Masala I have tried. It is lacking in many ways, but above all I believe that there is a certain something missing, possibly too little tomato paste?
If you are looking for a recipe which matches tikka masala you have tried in a restautrant this may not be it! It has hints of the correct flavor but will not satisfy the need for tikka masala :
