These were a big hit among my friends!
I used Granny Smiths instead of the Golden Delicious and a REALLY sharp cheddar. I also went without the maple glaze by accident- but no one seemed to miss it.
They're pretty quick to make and the recipe is easy to follow.

I made these for New Years, and am making them again for a party this weekend. I've made hand pies in the past...the trick is to not overfill them and to make a good seal on the edges. Also, make sure you put vents in the top for the steam to get out (Kitchen shears do a good job of making quick neat lines. Often there is filling left over, so just get another sheet of puff pastry, or if you run out of filling, make a bit more. It does need tweaking if you have a heavier or lighter hand when you fill them, but they're definitely worth it!

Great combo of tastes, great texture, wonderful with ice cream, I just found it a little hard to make it look as good as it does in the pictures...tasty, but not as pretty as I'd like.

These hand pies were really delicious and after reading a few reviews, I realized I forgot to serve the glaze with them. I have some frozen so I will try it when I bake them. They freeze beautifully if you would like to make them ahead of time. I also used Granny Smith apples because that is all I had, but still very tasty!

Nice concept but it didn't really work for me. Hand pies were oily and the cheese overpowered the flavor of the apples. But the maple glaze sure was tasty!

My 9 year old son and I made these together, they were easy to prepare and even though we slightly overbaked them there were a huge hit! These would be really easy to double and to make for a large group. Watch them carefully as each oven is finicky and may cook differently. Ours were actually done in about 15 minutes. Enjoy
