This recipe didn't work for me -- dough was too dry to form into crescents. But, today, I was lucky enough to unearth my husband's grandmother's recipe - they are his favorite! This one is similar, but makes more sense as it calls for the butter to be melted. Here it is:

    2 Cups Flour
    1 1/2 sticks butter, melted
    5 heaping Tbls. powered sugar
    2 Tbls. water
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped nuts (by preference
    1 teas. vanilla extract
Mix together with a wooden spoon until dough leaves the bowl, and then form into crescents. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Roll in a bowl of powered sugar while still warm.

I made these cookies to give away to family and co-workers. My family could not keep their paws off of them. The cookies expand slightly when baked. Make sure not to make your dough balls too big. Otherwise, you will be in for a messy treat when you try to eat them.

This was a really easy recipe and I love the taste but it didn't make as much as the recipe says. I halved the amounts called for since I didn't want to make so much and it only made around 4 dozen cookies. Even so, it's tasty!
