We love EVERYTHING Mario Batali does, so I am wondering if we messed this up somehow, but we followed it exactly, except we doubled it to make 2 large calzones. But it tasted way too eggy! We were sort of joking that it would be better suited for breakfast. We are making calzones again tonight, but will skip the egg all together and go with the straight ricotta.

This was tasty recipe. I sprinkled a little garlic powder inside the mix. It ended up being a serving for one. I really pigged out!!! Ummmm good!

I used left-over Christmas day ham, low-fat ricotta, fresh mozzarella, and fresh parmesan. I also sprinkled in some Italian seasoning as was suggested by another reviewer. The dough was great but we found the filling rather tasteless. If I make this again, I will add fresh chopped tomatoes and maybe some fresh spinach.

EXCELLENT! I have made this many times, and it is always a hit. We live in a rural area and delivery is hard to get. This tastes like it was made in a restaurant. We added a little less salt in the dough, and it comes out great! We also added to the cheese mixture italian seasoning and garlic powder. This is a great recipe and it makes quite a bit. We have shared it with family and friends from 4 - 60 years old with rave reviews! Thank you!

This recipe is very easy to make. I didn't add any salt because of the cheese and it was wonderful.
