I've made this sauce several times. It is such a simple and versatile sauce. We usually eat it as is, but it's great in all her other recipes as well. I make huge double batches and freeze portions for quick, wholesome meals later. I didn't think I would like such a simple sauce because my family makes sauce that burns holes in your stomach with all the spices, but this has become my favorite!

This is soooo easy to make and it tastes GREAT!! I love the way the butter blends it all together. I add a teaspoon on sugar to mine. I let it cool completely and then put pour it into mason jars and store in the fridge. I add butter only to the amount that I'm using when I reheat it. This is THE ONLY tomato sauce I will use now!!

This recipe was my first attempt to make my own spaghetti sauce. I haven't gone back to the jar since, or even attempted to make another recipe. I always add a bit of unsalted butter no matter what and a tablespoon or two of sugar to the recipe as well, to suit my husband's taste buds.

This is a great tasting sauce and so simple. I add hot italian turkey sausage to half the batch. Both were delicious.

If you are looking for a sauce recipe that is truly authentic Italian, this is it. Though the carrots and celery are often used in a basic sauce, depending on what part of Italy you are from, many people do not put such things in a basic tomato sauce. But, they add a wonderful flavor that still maintains an Italian taste. Simple, rustic and truly Italian!

I love this. What a difference it makes when used in my recipes that call for tomato sauce.
