I made this recipe after the show orignally aired. The beans were good but not sweet enough so I had to add more brown sugar.

I don't think this sounds good at all. There is way too much sugar in this recipe. I live in WI. and all this is, is dr.d up crap in a can.

I used the recommended amount of Root Beer but it overwhelmed the dish. Next time, I'll just use real beer and hope for better.

We loved them....I as many do, made a few changes....I added some chopped apples and pecans, only used about a 1/4cup of root beer, and used a mix of plain beans(black, red, butter, and navy soaked over night..... you know the drill. I then put them in a covered casserole and baked them @375 for an hour......the aroma alone could drop you to your knees.....yummy!!!!

Another winner! I made these for a family dinner and everyone loved them. I made them again for a BBQ and added a can of no sugar added crushed pineapples and a chopped, peeled apple, came out great. I love your recipes because they give me a solid base which allows me to make some changes and still come out with a good dish. There will always be people who want to give a low rating without even making the recipe, they are just sad folks who need to push someone down in order to push themselves up. Don't pay any attention to their remarks, we love you and the semi-homemade style, that's the way most of us cook.

My easy and obvious help for runny beans is to pour off the liquid on the top of the can of beans, that can amount to 1/2c of liquid in some brands. Rated this 4 stars to negate the healthy cooking review that did not fix the dish, just wanted to school all of us idiots who can't think for ourselves.

The beans were very easy and very tasty. One thing....mine were VERY soupy. How do I get them thicker. I took the lid off them and turned up the heat, cooked them for 1 1/2 hours and still runny. Any advice here?

This one is real easy to make. The soda definitely makes a big difference in this recipe and gives it a special kick. My wife and I will be taking this to our Church Pot Luck tomorrow. The brats that go with this are also great.

Very easy to make. I used a little less root beer to lower the intense flavor of the soda. My family loves this recipe.
